West Whale Bay
Bermudian whalers used to launch their boats from this bay and if you are here in the spring you may be lucky enough to see humpback whales, migrating from the Caribbean to their summer feeding grounds. For a closer look try Blue Water Divers & Watersports or Fantasea Bermuda’s whale watching trips.
A small beach with pink sands is set below a rocky cliff. Its calm and shallow waters make it an ideal place to bring children. The beach tends to disappear during high tides (check out the times with the Bermuda Weather Service) but, if this is the case, you can explore the remnants of a small fort, the Whale Bay Battery. There's a large grassy area with picnic tables and restrooms behind the beach, and because the area faces west it’s the perfect location to enjoy fantastic ocean sunsets.
Locals rate West Whale Bay as one of the best places in Bermuda for shore fishing. Potential catches include bonefish, pompano, grey snapper and great barracuda.
West Whale Bay is located at the end of Whale Bay Road, off Middle Road.
