The MarketPlace
This is the flagship store of the MarketPlace chain and is situated near the Bermuda Cathedral on Church Street. In the morning it’s packed with office workers buying freshly made doughnuts and muffins for breakfast. They’re back in force at lunchtime to raid the salad bar and deli which offers sushi rolls, a variety of Chinese meals, and dishes that change daily such as Red Snapper in Karachi Sauce and BBQ Beef Short Ribs.
Canadians will be familiar with the President’s Choice products on offer, whilst Americans can take comfort in groceries from ShopRite of New Jersey. In addition to pre-packed meats and time-saving ready-made stir fry dishes, their friendly butchers will also prepare you custom cuts.
The MarketPlace also has a wide selection of wines, beers and spirits. Visitors should note that Bermuda’s licensing laws prohibit the purchase of alcohol from supermarkets on Sundays.
