Bermuda.com
Bermuda.com was founded in 1995 by 3 Cable and Wireless employees. It was later purchased by Bermuda resident Jonathan Dobson and then by Tony Brannon, a Bermudian musician and political activist.
In July 2004 it was sold to Island Press Holdings (IPH), the parent company of the Bermuda Sun newspaper. No price was disclosed in the press, although Tony Brannon claimed in a discussion on the Limey in Bermuda blog that he received $2 million.
A redesign in July 2009 saw the site split into 2 parts; Visitors and Locals. Visitors includes information about restaurants, accommodation, shopping, and things to do. Locals caters to Bermudians and includes a business directory, classified advertisements, and news stories.
Hotels and packages can be booked using a white label version of Expedia.
In an article published in the Bermuda Sun in July 2009, general manager Linda Cox claimed the site received 2.5 million unique visitors ‘last year’.
Other useful Bermuda websites include bermudatourism.com, bermuda-online.org, and experiencebermuda.com.
