Cambridge Beaches
Cambridge Beaches is one of Bermuda’s premier resorts located on a private, 30-acre landscaped peninsula in Sandy’s Parish, on the island’s western end. An international clientele comprising couples, families or gatherings, seek relaxation and renewal. Romance is a specialty.
In recent years, policies have relaxed: jacket and tie are now optional in the dining room, there is a casual beach front bistro and the five night minimum is no longer. New in 2006 are Bermuda’s only private pool suites with infinity edge plunge pools overlooking panoramic ocean views. Also new is a $2.5 million multi-level pool experience with waterfalls that slope down to the beach overlooking Mangrove Bay. Intertwined with terraced seating areas, this promises to be a popular spot for sunbathers and provide an incredible ambiance for dining at night.
Couples will feel pampered. Private beach dinners for two and Bermuda’s only private island escape are just a few of the items on the menu at this world-class hideaway. A Romance concierge is available to help create the perfect occasion. Vow Renewals can be also be arranged. The Spa offers a special couple’s massage for twosomes wanting to relax and renew together.
Families with children above the age of five are welcome and will find there is plenty do on property or sightseeing the island. Family reunions are becoming more common as are gatherings of friends. In addition to summer vacations, families can also enjoy special programmes for Easter and Christmas. Water activities abound what with five private beaches, indoor and outdoor pools, a marina with boats and all sorts of water equipment. Boston Whalers can be rented and picnic baskets can be arranged for private expeditions to the smaller out-islands that surround the property. Snorkelling is wonderful all around the peninsula.
Accommodations are uniquely Bermudian with 94 cottage-style rooms and suites dotted around the grounds. Although none can be classed as inexpensive, there are room types to suit different experiences. All are individually-decorated with the following features included as standard in each: private patio, terrace or balcony, air conditioning, telephone, refrigerator, safe, high speed internet access, en-suite bathroom, cable TV, radio and CD player, toaster and iron. Many have whirlpool tubs and most enjoy water views.
Breakfast can be enjoyed in the privacy of your own cottage or at the dining room. Afternoon tea is enjoyed by guests of all ages. In the evening, there are many options for dining including a gourmet meal in the Tamarisk Room, outdoor on the terrace overlooking Mangrove Bay or casual- al fresco on right on Long Bay Beach at Breezes.
Tee times can be arranged at all of Bermuda’s golf courses (including the 3 private courses; Mid Ocean Club, Riddell’s Bay Golf and Country Club and the Tucker’s Point Club). The Port Royal Golf Course is only a 10-minute ride by taxi. Amateurs and serious golfers will enjoy the resort’s challenging putting green.
In addition to water activities, Cambridge Beaches has 3 tennis courts, an English croquet lawn and an extensive spa and wellness facility including a fitness centre. The resort also boasts five acres of gardens, offering walking trails, meditation areas and a new labyrinth. Yoga and massage are offered outside in the gardens bordering the beach during the summer months.
While there is plenty to keep guests occupied at the resort, daily excursions are offered to enjoy the best of Bermuda. A complimentary, private ferry leaves three times per week from the Cambridge dock for shopping in Hamilton, returning in time for lunch.
Guests wishing to explore the island at their own pace can hire bicycles and scooters on property. Windjammer Watersports operates a concession from the dock and offers a good selection of water-based activities. Hartley's Undersea Walk is based at nearby Watford Bridge Wharf. The concierge can arrange deep-sea fishing, scuba-diving, private yachts and other private adventures.
A large number of guests return to Cambridge Beaches, with 20 or 30 visits over time not an uncommon occurrence. Many begin as honeymooners or as a special anniversary stay and make the experience part of their lives. This fact, more than anything we could say, speaks for itself.

I love children but sometimes you just need to get away from them. There's no young children allowed at this hotel, so no screaming kids is an added bonus. The bus stop was a little far from the hotel though.
