The Oxford House
The Oxford House is an old Bermuda town house is located on the edge of Hamilton (in Bermuda that means 100 metres from the centre!) and has won the Department of Tourism’s Cedar Tree Merit Award every year since its introduction in 1996. The guest house is within walking distance of all the major international companies making it popular with business visitors as well as tourists.
Each of the 12 rooms, named individually after Bermuda’s parishes has air conditioning, cable TV, telephone, private bathroom and coffee/tea maker. All are tastefully decorated in the style of an English country house with antique furniture and floral drapes.
A curved staircase leads to the upstairs landing where there’s a small library filled with books which visitors are welcome to borrow. If you wish you can sit on the balcony which overlooks the small garden at the front of the house.
Continental breakfast is provided and includes muffins, fruit and scones. A pot of boiling water sits on the breakfast table so you can cook eggs according to your personal preference. The Oxford House doesn’t serve dinner, which is unsurprising given the range of excellent restaurants nearby. The Harbourfront, Little Venice, L’Oriental, Ristorante Primavera, The Lobster Pot, Portofino Restaurant, the Robin Hood pub and many more are all within walking distance. Oleander Cycles has a branch nearby for those visitors wishing to hire a scooter.
