Sunflower

Tricia Thompson-Browne invites visitors to stay in Sunflower, two clean and comfortable studio apartments in her family’s home. Sunflower is a great alternative to one of Bermuda’s hotels and both studios have separate entrances to ensure privacy.

Sunflower Apartment Hamilton Bermuda The lower studio has a queen-size bed, and a small couch which converts to a small bed for a young child or lightweight adult. The upper studio has a double-size bed and sleeps two. Both studios have their own private entrance, with shower bathrooms, 'counter kitchens' comprising toaster oven, microwave, tea and coffee making amenities and under-counter fridge for food storage. There is also reverse-cycle air conditioning, TV and DVD players (but no cable), High-speed DSL wireless network, cell phones on pay-as-you-go network, hair-dryers, laundry, iron and ironing board. The lower studio has a deck for sitting outside and a charcoal BBQ, and the upper a porch overlooking the garden.

The house is situated in a quiet residential area in Pembroke Parish and is 5 minutes walk from Hamilton and a good selection of restaurants and bars such as Little Venice, L’Oriental, Ristorante Primavera, The Lobster Pot, Portofino Restaurant, and Robin Hood. Visitors can stock up on quality food at Miles Market or rent a scooter from Smatt’s Cycle Livery just down the road.

Rates are from $130 and are amongst the best bargains to be found on the island. Tricia also provides beach towels and snorkels, and may even invite you round for dinner.

This was our first trip to Bermuda and we luckily found a wonderful place to stay with a great hostess who made us feel comfortable from the beginning. We found the guest house very clean and inviting. It has a very comfortable bed and a nice little area to prepare any snacks or something quick to eat. The refrigerator keeps your drinks and food cold. Snorkle gear and beach towels to use, a dvd library for some movies to watch if you so desire and wireless internet access for your use. The location in Hamilton could not be better. It is within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants in Hamilton and the waterfront, The Fairmont Princess Hotel (free entertainment on Friday nights), the scooter rentals, and bus stop. Tricia gave us some encouragement about renting a scooter. As I must say after the taxi ride from the airport I felt a little uncomfortable thinking about renting a scooter and driving on the island. Do not be afraid of this as I found it one of the best parts of my trip. Just stay off the road during rush hour. Once you have a scooter you can park it in her driveway and have easy access to any beach you desire and anything you want to explore. From here you can access just about anywhere on island in 45 minutes . I did not find her cats to aggravate my allergies in the guesthouse. In fact I did not even see a cat while I was there. If you are looking for a very nice place to stay with most of the comforts of home I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you Tricia for such a wonderful place to stay.

The Sunflower is wonderful and I wish it could stay a secret. I was told about it by a friend. And she was right.
Hospitality at Sunflower is amazing. Tricia will take care of all your requests with charm.
Accommodations are like home - comfortable and easy, yet special in that Bermudian way. It's wonderful to have a kitchen and a peaceful place to sit outside in the afternoon.

The Sunflower guesthouse is one of Bermuda's best kept secrets. Simply put, this is the nicest and cosiest place you'll find. It is conveniently located in a quiet neighbourhood within 5 min walking distance to all the amenities in the Hamilton city centre and harbour and an inexpensive alternative to all high priced hotels in its vicinity. Tricia is the best host ever, friendly, helpful and informative. The room is clean and the bed is comfy. The basic kitchen and barbecue grill give you the option for self-catering. So if you are looking for a nice, quiet place to stay, we highly recommend the Sunflower, it is a great place to spend a vacation!!
