Grape Bay Beach Hotel
Formerly the White Sands, this secluded Bermuda retreat was recently resurrected as the Grape Bay Beach Hotel and is rapidly gaining rave reviews.
Two classes of rooms are available. The Deluxe Terrace Wing offers Garden View rooms with a balcony. These are available with king beds or 2 doubles. The Superior Rooms offer full views of the Atlantic and most have king sized beds.
Grape Bay is situated in a quiet upmarket residential area. A very secluded and relatively unknown beach is just a few minutes walk from the hotel making it a good choice for those who value their privacy. Buses can be caught on the South Road to both Hamilton and the Royal Naval Dockyard. It’s a bit of a walk to the stop but the hotel operates a shuttle service for those who don’t fancy renting a scooter from local liveries Eve’s Cycles or Oleander Cycles.
The recently redesigned Belmont Hills Golf Course is just a few minutes drive away, as is the immensely popular Elbow Beach. Other nearby attractions include Paget Marsh, the Railway Trail and the Bermuda Botanical Gardens.
The Grape Bay Beach Hotel is owned by Bermuda Resort Hotels who also run the Harmony Club, Surf Side Beach Club and the Wharf Executive Suites.
The hotel is in Paget Parish. Watch videos of nearby attractions in the player below:

I am the granddaughter of Horace and Katherine Browne, the couple that built and owned the hotel. I practically grew up on the hotel grounds and the beautiful Grape Bay Beach nearby.
They are both deceased now. It is very sad to see and hear what has become of White Sands Hotel or Grape Bay Hotel or whatever they are calling it these days.
Unfortunately, it is not the only hotel to suffer a heart wrenching demise from the ailing tourism industry here in Bermuda.
I am not even sure if it is open for business anymore.
I do hope that those former guests that came to stay at White Sands Hotel can remember it in its former glory. It was wonderful in its prime!
Unfortunately, I am afraid that a hotel of its former nature would be a difficult sell these days, however, I do have a few ideas that could potentially breathe life back into the hotel…
My secret wish is to one day be able to purchase the property so it would be back in the family again, perhaps one day if I win the lottery.
When you come to Bermuda, don't stay at the Grape Bay Beach Hotel.
It's about a 10 minute walk to the main road, and there's a supermarket here where you can stock up on essentials. The management do offer a ride to the main road, but we preferred the walk, which was very pleasant.
