The Harbourfront

The small entrance on Front Street gives little indication of what lies upstairs. In addition to the main restaurant, there’s a popular Sushi and Tempura bar, a grill room and a long outdoor terrace. The menu is an eclectic medley of cuisine from different continents.

The Sushi bar has tastes to suit every palate. Tempura dishes include Soft-shelled Crab and there’s also Sashimi, Maki-Mono, Nigiri and Temaki with a variety of ingredients available. For those who want to share, the Harbourfront also offers Sushi Boats loaded with a variety of each type for 2, 3 or 4 persons. Every day, except Sundays when the restaurant is closed, the Sushi bar has a happy hour between 17:00 and 19:00.

The Harbourfront traditionally specialised in seafood, but with the opening of a grill room in 2001 dry aged steak was added to the menu. Management cuts no corners and went on extensive trips abroad to perfect their knowledge of the aging process. Their product is sourced from DeBragga and Spitler, the specialist New York butchers founded in the 1920’s. A showcase in the grill room displays the most elegant wines from their extensive list that achieved international recognition when it received the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.

Notable mains include Wild King Salmon (grilled wild salmon fillet with brocolli and bok choy) and Linguinne Aragosta (Lobster morsels with asparagus, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, wine and herbs in a spicy tomato cream sauce).

The outdoor terrace offers pleasant al fresco dining with a spectacular view of Hamilton Harbour and the bustle of Front Street. The Harbourfront is owned by the Little Venice Group which also owns the Little Venice, L’Oriental, La Coquille and La Trattoria. Look out for their special dine-around offers.

We made a reservation and advised it was our anniversary and asked for a good table outside. They gave us the worst table next to the waiters station. When the waiter finally came to our table, he neglected to review the specials. While considering menu choices, the overwhelming smell of gasoline emanated from the water below and we had to move inside. Once we ordered our meal, it took a long time for it to arrive and it was barely warm and had little taste appeal. To top things off, a large table of about 8 men who apparently had too much to drink were loud and rowdy and no attempt was made by any staff member to control their behaviour. We would have been better off going to a pub.

My friends and I celebrated a birthday here last weekend. It was fabulous. We ate on the balcony, loved the sushi and this fabulous sirloin that came sizzling on a grill. The staff was extremely gracious. I would definitely return.

We had a destination wedding in Bermuda and had our dinner here afterwards with about 13 people. Although we had originally wanted to dine outside the weather did not cooperate and the staff there made the inside just as delightful. They made a semi-private area for us and we were their full attention all night. We can not recommend the staff there enough!! They were wonderful. And the food was awesome! Everyone in our party very much enjoyed their food and we couldn't have been happier. It was a wonderful end to our wonderful day. They were so accommodating.

Although I made reservations several weeks in advance for a seat on the terrace overlooking the water, I was told it would be possible when I arrive in person. I was not late. In fact, I was slightly early. When I offered to wait for a table overlooking the water, I was told that was not possible either. Why bother accepting the reservation?
The food was mediocre and the service was awful. Our appetizers and dinner arrived at the same time , not minutes apart, but at the same exact time.
There are many places in Bermuda with better food, who will honour the promised reservation, and provide better service.
I definitely suggest that you do not bother.

We had our honeymoon here and it was the best ever. The food was unbelievable and the service was enough to blow our minds. My wife Anna agrees so much. We recommend it to everyone.

This is a decent restaurant that reminded me very much of a sophisticated gentleman's club inside. We ate on the balcony, which had great views of the harbor.
