The Harbourfront
The small entrance on Front Street gives little indication of what lies upstairs. In addition to the main restaurant, there’s a popular Sushi and Tempura bar, a grill room and a long outdoor terrace. The menu is an eclectic medley of cuisine from different continents.
The Sushi bar has tastes to suit every palate. Tempura dishes include Soft-shelled Crab and there’s also Sashimi, Maki-Mono, Nigiri and Temaki with a variety of ingredients available. For those who want to share, the Harbourfront also offers Sushi Boats loaded with a variety of each type for 2, 3 or 4 persons. Every day, except Sundays when the restaurant is closed, the Sushi bar has a happy hour between 17:00 and 19:00.
The Harbourfront traditionally specialised in seafood, but with the opening of a grill room in 2001 dry aged steak was added to the menu. Management cuts no corners and went on extensive trips abroad to perfect their knowledge of the aging process. Their product is sourced from DeBragga and Spitler, the specialist New York butchers founded in the 1920’s. A showcase in the grill room displays the most elegant wines from their extensive list that achieved international recognition when it received the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.
Notable mains include Wild King Salmon (grilled wild salmon fillet with brocolli and bok choy) and Linguinne Aragosta (Lobster morsels with asparagus, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, wine and herbs in a spicy tomato cream sauce).
The outdoor terrace offers pleasant al fresco dining with a spectacular view of Hamilton Harbour and the bustle of Front Street. The Harbourfront is owned by the Little Venice Group which also owns the Little Venice, L’Oriental, La Coquille and La Trattoria. Look out for their special dine-around offers.
