Henry VIII Restaurant and Bar
This Tudor temple attracts pilgrims from all over Bermuda, but is particularly convenient for those staying nearby hotels such as The Reefs or the Fairmont Southampton. Its namesake beheaded his wives but the management would prefer it if Henry’s knives are used for your food. The restaurant’s oak tables and panelling, brass fittings and fixtures help create a period atmosphere. ‘Wenches’ in medieval garb wait on your needs and complete the effect (smart casual is fine for you!).
Begin your feast with a Hampton Court Crepe (thin crepe filled with creamed seafood) or try the Scottish Smoked Salmon (served with chopped onion, capers, chopped egg and creamed horseradish). Carnivorous diners will love entrees such as Steak and Kidney Pie (beef and kidney stewed in Guinness with potatoes, carrots and herb seasoning) while devotees of the sea may wish to try Seafood Newburg (gulf shrimp, sea scallop, mushrooms, snow crab and lobster meat, simmered in a creamy sherry sauce and served with rice). Entertainment while you dine is provided most nights.
The restaurant also hosts one of Bermuda’s most popular Sunday and reasonably priced brunches. The menu features salads, appetisers (smoked salmon, shrimps, peppered mackerel etc.), cold meats, carved meats, hot foods (curry, steak and kidney pie, poached fish, roasted potatoes etc.), desserts and tea or coffee.
Henry VIII also has an extremely popular bar serving a variety of English ales. Nightly entertainment starts around 21.30 and goes on until 01:00. Sunday nights are extremely popular with the expatriates working in the hospitality industry. It’s frequently packed with crowds spilling onto the outdoor terrace.
Keep up the good work, Dave! We'll be back!
Thanks!
