La Trattoria
La Trattoria is a family-orientated, neighbourhood-style Italian restaurant located in the very heart of Hamilton. Authentic Italian waiters make the place popular with ladies’ parties. They’re also pretty efficient and it won’t be long after you are seated before the garlic bread makes a welcome appearance.
If you are here on a Thursday evening in the summer you may hear the distant banging of drums. You hear it getting closer and then all hell breaks lose. Suddenly the restaurant is full of midgets waving little axes. Don’t worry, you’re not hallucinating. It’s just the Gombeys passing by to entertain you.
La Trattoria is famous for its pizzas. There are 17 of them on the menu but the chef will be happy to make one to your specific requirements. Incidentally, La Trattoria has the only wood-burning pizza oven in Bermuda. Other classic Italian dishes are covered in a straightforward and unpretentious manner and range from pasta dishes like Ravioli Mona Lisa (pockets of pasta stuffed with ricotta cheese in a creamy sauce with a hint of tomato, peas and parmesan cheese) to entrees such as Pollo Cacciatore (pan-roasted chicken breast in onion, carrot and mushroom sauce with a touch of gravy and tomato).
The restaurant is extremely popular and reservations are recommended if you don’t want to wait in line. La Trattoria welcomes youngsters and even has a special menu for them. The restaurant is located in Washington Lane; an alley running between Reid Street and Church Street.
La Trattoria is owned by the Little Venice Group which also owns the Little Venice, L’Oriental, the Harbourfront and La Coquille. Look out for their special dine-around offers.
