The Lobster Pot
Restaurants come and go but those that survive 30 years usually do so because of consistently good food and attentive service. Founded in 1973, the Lobster Pot is no exception and has a renowned reputation for its lobster and other seafood dishes.
Conveniently located in Hamilton, the interior décor is distinctly nautical. Fishing nets and other maritime mementoes adorn the whitewashed walls of the Lobster Pot’s 2 dining rooms. A battered hull hangs above a fireplace in the bar area and intrigues the mind as to the fate of its owner.
Unsurprisingly, the menu is dominated by seafood but amongst the appetisers Escargot ‘Lobster Pot’ is a worthy departure. Live Maine lobsters are available year round whilst the spiny Bermuda variety are only available in season (September 1 to March 31). The Lobster Pot also offers a number of combination entrees; notable ones being the Bermuda Triangle (a combination of shrimps, scallops and fish broiled or deep-fried and served with tartar sauce or lemon butter) and the Seafood Lover’s Feast (½ Maine lobster, mussels, crab claws, clams and shell on shrimps, simmered in a saffron stock with vegetables). Stray carnivores can take refuge in offerings such as Chicken Breast ‘Forestiere’ (grilled chicken breast garnished with sauteed potatoes and mushrooms, glazed with a red wine sauce).
Reservations are strongly recommended. Unlike many of Bermuda’s restaurants the Lobster Pot does not offer a take-out service.
