Portofino Restaurant
This unpretentious Italian trattoria was opened over 25 years ago by Cesare Maranzana. While many men struggle to buy even flowers, Cesare set out to impress his wife by designing the restaurant in the style of his home town. He is Italian, though.
A comprehensive menu offers almost every Italian dish you can name. Considering the restaurant’s central location it’s also very competitively priced. With 17 different pizzas there’s something to suit every palate. Specials include Pollo Alla Griglia (chicken breast marinated then grilled, topped with olive oil, basil and diced tomatoes). A plethora of pasta dishes, pizza, soups and salads are also available.
Portofino can get extremely busy and reservations are recommended. If you can’t get a table try their take-away shop next door. The restaurant also boasts a pleasant outdoor terrace for al fresco dining. It's popular with both locals and tourists and its proximity to 'Reinsurance Row' and the major banks makes it a handy place for the hungry businessman too.
