Robin Hood

The Robin Hood is one of Bermuda’s most popular pubs but its location on the outskirts of Hamilton means that most visitors won’t stumble on it by accident. They’ll be missing out on a great deal, though, because there’s usually a lot (of drinking) going on here.

The ‘Hood’, as it’s known to locals is a British-style pub, heavily frequented by both expats and locals. The pub has a large central dining area with plenty of tables. A large wooden bar runs the length of the pub and is the scene of most of the drinking action. The rear of the bar seems to be permanently occupied by a group of English expats. It’s rumoured that some of them have never ventured into other areas of the pub. Buy a Buffalo Sweat, one of the 50 or so shooters on offer here, to immediately gain their respect.

There’s something different going on here most nights. Tuesdays sees their popular quiz nights. There’s a different theme each week (pop music, general knowledge etc.) and all are welcome to take part. The team names chosen by entrants are frequently entertaining themselves. Friday night kicks off with a happy hour complimentary buffet with roast beef, potatoes, vegetables etc.

The Robin Hood is Bermuda’s premier sports bar with TV's dotted here and there. They show English Premier League games on Saturday mornings, American Football and Ice Hockey. Details of upcoming events are chalked on the blackboard towards the rear of the pub.

The pub has an active social scene with its own soccer team. Their summer booze cruises and beach parties are legendary and a few naked bodies (probably unconscious) are usually guaranteed. Tickets costing around $40 - $50 can be bought from the pub and as well as giving admission onto the boat, entitle the holder to free beer and spirits throughout the evening. Halloween is also a big night but don’t even think about going without fancy dress.

The Robin Hood also serves food and is always full of people eating good quality pub food at sensible prices. English favourites like Bangers & Mash and Fish & Chips feature high on the menu. Their pizzas are arguably the best in Bermuda. Choose from their standard offerings or make your own. 7, 12 or 17 inch sizes will fill the void in various stomachs.

All their menu items are also available for take-out. Reservations are not required.

We strolled in to try this pub. The atmosphere was antisocial, and after being ignored by staff and clients for several minutes we left and found real hospitality elsewhere. I had hoped for a better reception.

Worked at the Hood for roughly a year. Great management and ownership. Ate there everyday and loved the Indian Curry and wraps. My boy Robby behind the bar with Aurthur, Jen, and Jill managing - fun and entertaining folks to say the least. Please take a moment to check out the Robin Hood. Up on the hill you get a wonderful breeze most days and plenty of coverage from the summer sun. I think of everyone from the chefs (baby pizza) and others, to many of the patrons, all famous and great people: "Too Easy"!! Enjoy your stay and don't go ringing the bell by accident - your round!

Went there last year with my family. The place was great, fun crowd, and great food. Televisions all over the place with rugby games on. Try your hardest to make it there for a drink!!!
