Rosa’s Cantina
If you’re looking to enjoy good Tex-Mex food in a jovial atmosphere and without spending lots of cash, look no further than Rosa’s Cantina. In fact if fajitas are your thing you don’t have much choice; Rosa’s is Bermuda’s only Tex-Mex restaurant.
After climbing a flight of stairs, patrons are transported south of the border. The long dining room is decorated with sombreros, maracas and other Mexican paraphernalia. If the management happens to be reading this we apologise now for the theft of one of your sombreros. We’re sorry, but your margaritas were just too strong to keep our behaviour in check.
To start we recommend the Iguana Eggs (6 jalapeno peppers filled with cream cheese, breaded and deep-fried) or the Unbelievably Good Nachos.
For an entree try one of their Chimichangas (deep-fried flour tortilla stuffed with meat and cheese and topped with sauce and more cheese). Available with chicken, beef or shrimp fillings, they’re as tasty as they are difficult to say. In addition to the Mexican offerings there’s a large variety of Texan-style dishes such as the Texas Roadhouse Ribs (slow-roasted ribs with Texas BBQ sauce or honey garlic).
Rosa’s Cantina serves swimming-pool size margaritas available by the glass or pitcher. Included in the beers are Mexican brands Corona and Desperados. The friendly waitresses will happily lend you their body parts for tequila shots. Rosa’s Cantina is a great place for groups who prefer cocktails and beers to wine and like their food chilli-spicy. After dinner continue your evening at Docksider downstairs.
The restaurant welcomes children and they even supply kids with paper and crayons to keep them busy. Rosa’s Cantina also has a veranda overlooking Front Street and Hamilton Harbour. Reservations are recommended at weekends.
