Little Venice
The Little Venice was Bermuda’s first Italian restaurant. Its success has enabled owner Emilio Barbieri to establish many other restaurants in Bermuda. Hailing from Capri, Emilio arrived in Bermuda in 1960. After working at several hotels he took over ownership of Little Venice in 1971. Now in the 4th decade of his command one can only conclude that he must be doing something right.
Located on Bermudiana Road, its proximity to Bermuda’s banks and reinsurance companies makes it a popular venue for the executive set who want a little more than bolognaise and pizza from their local Italian. It’s often packed and reservations are therefore recommended.
The friendly Italian waiters, renowned for their first rate service, give the Little Venice a vivacious atmosphere. The restaurant has several dining areas separated by archways. An intricate ceiling with contemporary chandeliers and tiled floors set the stage for a wonderful dining experience. Al fresco dining is also available on the terrace.
The menu is contemporary Italian or, as the management prefer to call it, cucina fresca (fresh kitchen). Main courses are rich and satisfying and include Stripped Bass (Pan-seared soy and honey-glazed stripped bass, green peas puree, crushed pistachio, wassabi oil and black squid ink risotto) and Filetto (Seared tenderloin of beef, slow-braised Belgian edive and leeks, oven-roasted tomatoes).
The restaurant is owned by the Little Venice Group which also owns the La Trattoria, L’Oriental, the Harbourfront and La Coquille. Look out for their special dine-around offers.
