Wedding Music & Entertainment
Music can have an enormous impact on the mood of your wedding. There are no set rules but the task of choosing the music can be made a great deal easier by breaking the wedding day down into its component parts and thinking about the atmosphere you want to create at each point. Though by no means exhaustive, here are a few pointers for music at various stages of the day:
The Processional
The music played for the bridal party’s procession down the isle is traditionally stately and regal. Popular pieces chosen include the Wedding March from Lohengrin (Wagner), Arrival of the Queen of Sheba (Handel) and the Grand March from Aida (Verdi).
The Recessional
Once married the joyful moment should be accompanied with music that is triumphant and celebratory. Traditional recessional music includes the Wedding March (Mendelssohn), the Radetsky March (Strauss) and the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba (Handel).
The Reception
It is vitally important to consider the tastes and age range of guests when deciding what type of music to be played at your reception. Traditionally bride and groom kick off the dancing to a favourite romantic song. After this all guests are invited to join the newlyweds on the dance floor.
