Wedding Photography

Even your best memories fade over time, so it’s a good idea to devote a sizeable proportion of your wedding budget to quality photographs. Whilst it may be tempting to entrust a friend or relative to take the photographs, a professional photographer with expertise and creativity is really essential.

One of the most important decisions is the choice of photography style. The current trend is to have the wedding photographs taken in a photojournalistic style, although some may prefer more traditional photography. There is nothing though to stop you mixing the two genres.

When choosing a photographer you should ask to see a portfolio of their work. As your photographer will be with you most of the day, it’s important that your personalities should click. Ideally you should meet them before, but for most persons coming to Bermuda to get married a telephone conversation or personal recommendation are the only realistic alternatives.

Other factors to consider include choice of medium (film or digital), the range of packages available and what they include, locations for shots not taken at the ceremony or reception (popular choices include Astwood Park, Palm Grove Gardens, Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, Par-la-Ville Park, Bermuda Botanical Gardens and Fort Hamilton) and lastly, cost.

Bermuda has a number of photographers specialising in weddings:
