Quality of Life in Bermuda
There are many benefits to living in Bermuda (otherwise there wouldn’t be so many foreigners living there). You are expected to work though and not think of your stay as a long vacation.
Common reasons people choose to work in Bermuda are:
- There’s a lively expatriate social scene with few social barriers. In popular expat hangouts like the Robin Hood, the Pickled Onion, the Hog Penny and Square One you’re just as likely to see insurance executives drinking with manual workers as their high-flying colleagues.
- Escaping the rat race. If you live in Bermuda, the 2 hour commutes to and from work will be a thing of the past (if you drive for more than an hour you’re either lost or will end up in the ocean). It’s generally not necessary to work excessive hours to get promotion and it’s not a requirement to purchase flash cars and other expensive commodities to prove your status. In fact many of the island’s top executives can be seen zipping around on old scooters.
- It’s a great place for outdoor activities such as fishing and diving.
- With its pink beaches, delightful architecture, attractions, flora and fauna it's undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the world.
- The crime rate is relatively low and the culture familiar e.g. unlike many potential foreign working destinations, the predominant language is English.
