Edgehill Manor

Edgehill Manor is a small guest house in Pembroke Parish. It’s situated in a leafy residential area within easy reach of Hamilton. It’s great for business visitors with appointments in the city or tourists not looking for beachside accommodation.

All rooms are decorated in the style of an English country residence. Each is unique but all include an en-suite bathroom, private balcony or terrace, air conditioning, a small refrigerator, microwave oven, cable TV, complimentary high speed internet access, safe, clock radio and private telephone line. One of the ground floor rooms offers a private entrance and kitchen. It is suitable for families of up to 4 persons. Guests can relax in the sub-tropical garden or around the freshwater pool.

Proprietor Bridget Marshall offers her guests a delicious continental breakfast. The spread includes home-baked muffins, her famous Pear and Walnut Coffee Cake, Apple Cake, Sour Cream Coffee Cake, boiled eggs, and more.

Edgehill Manor doesn’t serve lunch or dinner; hardly a surprise given the number of restaurants and bars nearby. Walk up Rosemont Avenue and turn right onto Richmond Road and you’ll soon come to the Robin Hood, one of the liveliest pubs in Bermuda. Mad Hatters is opposite but you’ll almost certainly need to book if you want to get a table here. Carry on down Richmond Road and you’ll come to Bermudiana Road. Restaurants here include Portofino, the Lobster Pot, Little Venice, and L’Oriental.

There are plenty of things to see and do within walking distance of Edgehill Manor. Par-la-Ville Park is a peaceful public space with rock gardens, shaded areas, pergolas, and some interesting sculptures. Close by you’ll find the quaint Perot Post Office and the delightful Bermuda Historical Society Museum. Other attractions in and around Hamilton include the Bermuda National Gallery, BUEI, Bermuda Cathedral and Fort Hamilton.

There are no beaches in the immediate area. The closest is Clarence Cove at Admiralty House Park. It’s just about walkable if you are reasonably fit. However, the bus station is only ½ mile from Edgehill and offers easy access to all areas of the island. The route followed by bus number 7 is particularly scenic and will take you to Elbow Beach, Warwick Long Bay, Jobson’s Cove, Horseshoe Bay, and Church Bay.

Hamilton Ferry Terminal is also nearby. Just walk down Rosemont Avenue and turn left onto Pitts Bay Road. You’ll be there in about 10 minutes. Various destinations are served including Dockyard and St George.

Visitors wishing to explore the island at their own pace can rent a moped. Oleander Cycles and Smatt’s both have branches near the guest house.

Reviews and Additional Information

  1. I loved Edgehill in 1974 when I honeymooned there. Will be returning in September 09 and hope to find it just as appealing.

  2. The owner is a very pleasant lady and made us feel very welcome. The house is about 10 minutes walk from Hamilton and is in a very nice area. There’s no beach nearby but the pool is lovely.
It doesn’t serve any lunch or dinner but the owner recommended Monty’s which was nice and quite reasonably priced (for Bermuda!).
I would recommend Edgehill Manor for couples not wanting a beach holiday or someone visiting Bermuda on business.
