Harmony Club (now closed)

Note: The Harmony Club has closed. It was purchased by the Bermuda Government in May 2008 to provide accommodation for overseas police recruits. We have kept this listing online as many of our readers are still searching for information about the hotel.

The adults-only Harmony Club was previously an all-inclusive hotel but since the beginning of 2005 offers the more traditional room and breakfast option. Located close to Hamilton, the Harmony Club’s traditional Bermudian cottage-style architecture projects the intimacy of a private country hideaway in a garden setting.

The Harmony Club has a total of 68 rooms located in five separate blocks. They are all furnished in classic Queen Anne style. All rooms have private bathroom, air conditioning, hairdryers, safes, alarm clock radios, satellite TV, tea/coffee facilities, bathrobes, and deluxe toiletries.

The hotel has no beach but guests are free to use the private beach and facilities at the Elbow Beach Hotel. It’s a 15 minute walk but only 5 minutes on a scooter. They can be rented from either Eve’s Cycles or Oleander Cycles which both have offices nearby.

Resort amenities include 2 tennis courts, restaurants, a heated outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, concierge and laundry service.

We had the most amazing honeymoon at the Harmony Club the first 2 weeks of August 1995. Met some fantastic people from the USA and England. So sad to hear its closed. Rock on Ida Mae!

  2. Roger Leach says:

I spent a week at Christmes time in 1960 at the Harmony Hall Resort. I was only 15 but remember it well. I kissed an English girl who was there from England on vacation with her parents also. Great memories. What a shame to lose a beautiful classic old hotel.

  3. Larry & Carolyn says:

My wife and I had our honeymoon at the Harmony club in October of 1988. We were supposed to go to Couples in Jamaica but that got blown off the map due to the hurricane that year. We were lucky to find the Harmony Club at the last minute. We really enjoyed our time there. The

  4. George and Lorraine Largess says:

We spent a week in 2001 and previously in 1999. The service and hospitality were impeccable and we could access the Bermuda Bike Trail and the Botanical Gardens.

  5. Neal and Joyce says:

We honeymooned at Harmony Hall in Aug. 1981. It was the perfect place: beautiful gardens, friendly staff, great food. Time changes places, just wish it wasn’t Harmony Hall, a place near and dear to our hearts with so many happy memories.

  6. Sandy says:

Back in 1963, when I was 21, I went with the group from the insurance company where I worked. Spent a wonderful week there, and have fond memories of Harmony Hall, as it was then, walking down to the beach, and the little food building nearby. Went back to Bermuda last month for the first time in 48 years, and was so sorry to learn that Harmony Hall (Club) is no longer. We drove by where it used to be and the tour bus driver pointed it out to us on our bus. There were several others besides me, with my husband, who remembered Harmony Hall.

  7. Bill&Carol says:

We were there for our honeymoon 1988. We went back every years for 13 years.
We renewed our vows in the beautiful gardens in 1998. The staff were the best in Bermuda. Miss you.

  8. John Paul and Maryem Medeiros [Warren, Rhode Island } says:

We had our honeymoon at harmony hall in August 1980. We remember the great times dressing up for dinner, riding that scooter all over the island, and enjoying rum swizzles all week! The moongates were great. We’ve got many pictures between them at Harmony Hall and elsewhere on the island. Our prize souvenir from Harmony Hall was a sugar bowl from the dinning area I lifted at 2 am in the morning after a wild night out. It had the words "Bermudiana"- and "Belmont" on the bowl. The three hotels were connected somehow and it’s priceless to us. We have a rum swizzle bottle full of pink sand from Elbow Beach. We were hoping to get back for our 30th but we found out they were closed. We were totally bummed out!! Harmony Hall will never be forgotten!!!

  9. Carol Nickerson says:

We spent our honeymoon at Harmony Hall in 1971. We met 2 couples, one that we are still friends with. Our waitress Fredda was great! We are going back for our 40th and are so sad Harmony Hall is gone. We do have great memories.

  10. Mark says:

I stayed there while on temporary duty on the island. The staff were excellent and the meals and bar were outstanding. I had planned to take my wife there to meet these fine people.
I will miss them greatly. Cheers to all.

My family spent every February school vacation from 1968 through 1972 at Harmony Hall. Even now, I clearly remember the fancy dining room, the great music, and the fun we had in the pool!! – and when my father got hit by a car on his moto! How sad that it is gone.

  19. John Bohd says:

My wife and I spent our Honeymoon at Harmony Hall in 1965. We are returning to Bermuda for our 50th. wedding anniversary next week and were looking forward to enjoying afternoon tea again at the hotel. Sorry to learn that the place has been converted to a Police Acedamy. We will visit the site anyway for old time’s sake. Perhaps The Police will make tea for us?

  23. Patty & Gene says:

I’m still lamenting hearing about the changes at Harmony. My husband and I would spend a couple weeks there every winter. We just loved it. The bus stop to town, grocery store, beach, all so easy and within reach. Nothing could have been more perfect. Late night swimming in the pool, vegetarian lasagna, the bartender, lobby bands, everything and every corner a memory. Fortunately, we have many years of memories.

  24. Kevin says:

We were there way back when it was Harmony Hall and stayed there 8 times. Vincent was a server when we started there, and Maitre D’ the last time we were there. Took my whole family on a cruise a couple years back and we had to take my mum there to see it with all the flowers and quaintness. Sorry to see it go.
Let’s see how good we are. Can anyone tell me if Vincent is still working at one of the hotels? We would like to go visit him again on our next visit. kfdriscoll@exciteDOTcom..

  25. Mark & Claudia Ritter says:

Wow! I cant believe the club has closed! This was one of the very best places in Bermuda. Great food, great bar and service! It was also centrally located. We spent 5 nights there in 2002. I hope it comes back. It was very memorable.

  26. Joanne says:

Had a blast there with my ex-husband in the late 90′s. The bartender was especially accommodating – creating a special drink with innumerable maraschino cherries in it & naming it "The Peatfield" just for us. Met a great group of seniors who knew how to dance.

  27. Kim,Peter and JoAnne says:

Many good memories. We spent many years at the Harmony Club. Ida Mae, Shane and Cheeks we had alot of fun. Manfred you became our good friend. You are truly missed."Kimmie" as Cheeks would say.The mother, daughter and friend. We arrived every year on DL.Thank you Mr. Griffiths

I was so sorry to hear about the closing. My husband and I spent our 25th anniversary there in ’89 and always said we would return for our 50th. We have such wonderful pictures. The staff was wonderful and I loved the teas in the afternoon. One night the chef fixed us a picnic dinner and we ate at a spot where we could watch the sun go down. It was magical. But time does go on.

  29. Joanie & Wil says:

Guess it is true what they say, "All good things must come to an end." We honeymooned there in 1988 and had a wonderful time. Loved our scooter adventures and all the wonderful things Bermuda has to offer. The hotel was first rate in everything! I still remember when they handed me my room card. It was the first official imprinted card I had as a being Mrs Taylor. Harmony Club, you hold a very special place in our hearts filled with the greatest memories of the beginning of our new life together. 21 years now and counting!

  34. HPK says:

Sad news. So sorry to hear of the closing of the Harmony Club. We had our honeymoon there in 1987 and I was just looking to see about returning. Will always have the memories and pictures but still feel so sad.

  35. trish and dick u.k says:

Oh what a disappointment! Having spent a fantastic fortnight there for our 25th anniversary vowed we’d return again one day. Accommodation food and service was great and we had a great time with Andrew & Sally, a couple honeymooning there back in 1996. It’s our 40th next year which was going to be the next option. As I write above me are prints of cascade moongate and St George’s harbour which remind us of very happy memories riding around the island sightseeing on our motor scooter. A very fond farewell to Harmony club as we knew it.

  36. Mark says:

We loved the room and those tea sandwiches in the lobby in the afternoon. We had a great honeymoon there. Anyone remember the moongate?

  43. Owen Carter (CA,USA) says:

In Bermuda celebrating 45th wedding anniversary, and drove by former Harmony Hall today. Though now in disrepair, the property still evokes wonderful memories. On this visit we found a cozy, boutique type hotel, The Royal Palms, on the outskirts of Hamilton. It is a delightful facility with clean and spacious rooms and a friendly and cheerful staff. There is an excellent restaurant, Ascots, on the property. We will have as many good memories of Royal Palms as we do of Harmony Hall!

  44. Gary and Ormonde says:

We spent our honeymoon week, June 1974, at Harmony hotel. It was a wonderful place with great ambiance, food, everything! Had hoped to return this June, but now it’s closed. Where can we find another place in Bermuda that’s similar? Help, folks. What do you suggest?

  49. karen says:

It is so sad that The Harmony Club is closed. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there and I was planning to surprise him with a trip back for our 10th anniversary. We got "remarried" under a moongate on our honeymoon and the memories of our time there are so close to our hearts. We came home more in love (didn’t think it was possible) then when we left home. Shane, Cheeks and Ida Mae not only welcomed us to the resort, but welcomed us as a part of the family. Now that I have let the "cat out of the bag" to my husband, I am looking for another place for us to stay in Bermuda. I know that none will even begin to compare to The Harmony Club’s staff, service, food and friendly atmosphere!

  50. Bob and Pat says:

We loved the Harmony Club during our 4 stays there. Staff was always helpful and attentive. Sadly too much of what made Bermuda our favorite destination has closed or changed (and NOT for the better).

  54. Beth & Grover says:

We came as a family in the late 60′s and were made to feel like family. I caught a fish and the staff cooked it for dinner. My brother and I learned to play billiards at the table at Harmony Hall. I will miss it terribly. Good-bye.

  55. Lisa says:

My husband and I vacationed there twice.
We will always remember the great memories of Harmony Club…
