The Reefs is a family-owned luxury hotel in the Southampton area of Bermuda. The cliff-side property offers magnificent ocean views and regularly wins awards from esteemed travel publications such as Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler.
The hotel offers its guests a good selection of accommodation options. Poolside Guest Rooms are the least expensive category. They’re located overlooking the swimming pool, next to the main hotel building. Cliffside Guest Rooms offer a quieter location and are slightly more expensive. Standard features in both types include a private balcony, TV, DVD player, mini-fridge, coffeemaker, and safe.
For more privacy and better views guests there are 8 Junior Suites, 3 Point Suites, and the Longtail Suite. Families and larger groups can choose from three cottages; Southbreaker (3-bedroom, 3-bathroom), Sandpiper (2-bedroom, 1-bathroom), and Sea Melody (3-bedroom, 2-bathroom).
The freshwater infinity pool gives you the feeling that you are in the ocean. All that’s missing is the fish. If you crave the real thing, it’s just a short walk to the hotel’s private beach. There are plenty of loungers and a water sports centre offering guests complimentary use of kayaks and snorkelling gear (most other hotels on the island charge extra for these). Other leisure facilities include 2 tennis courts and a fitness centre.
Another highlight is the hotel’s spa, La Serena. It offers 8 treatment rooms and a relaxation room with panoramic ocean views.
The Reefs boasts 3 restaurants, quite surprising given its relatively small size. Coconuts enjoys a cliff-side location next to the beach. This open-air setting makes it one of the most romantic restaurants in Bermuda. For really special occasions, couples can dine at a private table on the beach. Royston’s offers gourmet burgers, pizzas and prime cuts of beef, while the Ocean Echo offers a different menu every day. Throughout the summer there’s live entertainment most evenings.
The Reefs is also one of the island’s best wedding venues. Small ceremonies can be held on the beach. Larger parties can be accommodated on Caso’s Point, a purpose-built deck with the most stunning ocean backdrop. The hotel’s onsite wedding planners, Bermuda Event Solutions, can ensure your special day goes a smoothly as possible. A reasonably priced wedding package is available for weddings with up to 12 guests.
Getting around couldn’t be easier. The number 7 bus stops right outside the hotel entrance and goes to Dockyard and Hamilton. Both destinations offer a large number of shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Some of the island’s best beaches (Horseshoe Bay, Jobson’s Cove, and Warwick Long Bay etc.) are also on this bus route. Bus and ferry passes can be purchased at the hotel.
The nearest golf course is the Turtle Hill Golf Club at the Fairmont Southampton, but Port Royal, Riddell’s Bay and Belmont Hills are also close by. Spicelands Equestrian Centre in neighbouring Warwick offers trail rides down to the beaches of South Shore Park. Restaurants within walking distance include Henry VIII and the Dining Room at Gibbs Hill Lighthouse.
The Reefs is situated on South Road in Southampton Parish, approximately 14 miles from LF Wade International Airport.

We’re going for our fifth stay shortly. The staff is a big part of our reason to keep going back.
My husband and I were married at the Reefs in September 2005. Having been previously at Cambridge Beaches (which was also wonderful) I would heartily recommend the Reefs. We must go back now that the spa has been expanded.
Just a short note to say that over the last 30 years my husband and I have been to the Reefs at least 6 times. In a word "wonderful". If I ever go back to Bermuda it is the only place I will stay.
Lots of good things to say about this place. Great location and spectacular views, but what made it for us was the staff – they were really excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The room was absolutely immaculate, but what proved to be the hotel’s best advert was the number of repeat visitors who we met staying there. Great place!
This is an unbeatable place if you want a quiet and relaxing holiday on Bermuda. Views were spectacular, service was superb, and transport to get around the island was cheap and efficient. I expected it to be good after reading the reviews, but it really exceeded all my expectations.
As repeat visitors we are probably in a better position than most to judge this place. I can only say that the service has been first class every time we have stayed here and it is really difficult to find any faults. You really get the impression that they are doing their best for you. Naturally, we would recommend it unreservedly.
Wouldn’t stay anywhere else now on Bermuda. A really excellent place!
This is a terrific place to stay and when I was there the staff really went that extra mile so many times. You get fantastic views, your own private beach and an excellent choice of restaurants. The place is fairly quiet but still offers great nightly entertainment. I would certainly recommend it.
The Sunday Brunch at the Reefs is pretty good value at $40 per head.
I’ve been to Bermuda many times and will now only consider staying here.
The hotel has its own entertainment, but if you want to try something different the Henry VIII pub is just a short walk away.
I would also suggest taking the private dinner on the beach. The torches, sound of the waves etc. make it a really romantic experience.
We had our honeymoon at the Reefs and were very impressed. Everybody went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
It’s quite a small hotel and has a great beach and cool infinity pool.
There’s a bus stop right outside which makes getting around the island a lot easier (no need for expensive taxis).
Coconuts restaurant has excellent food and a great setting. I recommend you reserve though.
The private beach is very nice and the water clear as crystal. Kayaks, beach chairs, and umbrellas were readily available.
Breakfast and dinner were excellent. They also servied afternoon tea with delicious scones and sandwiches.
I would definately recommend this hotel to anybody thinking of a trip to Bermuda.
