Set in 5 acres of terraced gardens, the Surf Side Beach Club is a romantic beachfront hideaway in Warwick boasting magnificent ocean views. A pathway, lined with hibiscus and oleander, meanders through the property and leads guests down to the Surf Sides’s small private beach. The general manager, Bryony Harvey, has been with the property for decades and delights in sharing her knowledge of Bermuda with guests.
Deluxe Rooms average 540 square feet. 18 of the rooms are situated around the pool, while the remaining 7 are at lower elevations. All have a balcony or patio with ocean views. One Bedroom Suites average 720 square feet and include a separate kitchen.
Despite its moderate size, Surf Side Beach Club has its own hair and beauty salon offering a range of treatments including facials, massage, electrolysis, waxing, and manicures. Complimentary wireless internet access is available in the lobby and around the pool.
There is no restaurant or bar at Surf Side. Claudio Vigilante’s Aqua used to be here but closed in 2010. The closest is the Swizzle Inn South Shore, around ½ mile from the property. Other restaurants fairly close by include the Fourways Inn, Blu, the Paraquet, and Mickey’s.
The nearest supermarket is Lindo’s Family Foods. It’s one of the better stores in Bermuda and is around 1 mile from the hotel. It’s not a direct bus route from Surf Side though. The Modern Mart may be a better bet for those using public transport. Just catch bus 7 going towards Hamilton and you’ll be there in a few minutes.
Walk for 5 minutes from the hotel and you can join the Warwick section of the Bermuda Railway Trail. Follow the trail east and you’ll come to Paget Marsh and the Botanical Gardens. Going west will take you to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse.
Bus number 7 (Hamilton to Dockyard) stops close to the entrance. This is by far the most scenic bus route in Bermuda and is lined with attractions and places to visit. Take the bus towards Dockyard for Astwood Park, Warwick Long Bay, Jobson’s Cove, Horseshoe Bay, Church Bay, and Fort Scaur. Buses going the opposite direction will take you to Elbow Beach and on to Hamilton.
The nearest golf courses are Belmont Hills and Riddell’s Bay. Spicelands Equestrian Centre is nearby and offers trail rides down to the beaches of South Shore Park. Tennis courts can be found at the Elbow Beach hotel.

This is the best place ever. I have been here about 8 times with my brother and parents. The the staff are awesome, so nice, and they are like family.
Our room was in need of a bit of TLC, but having said that it had everything we required and the view was simply stunning. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the housekeeping personnel were extremely efficient. Almost forgot, the price was pretty good too.
I found the room to be perfectly adequate, you could hear the sea crashing in below, and there was also Wi-Fi available in the lobby. The Palm restaurant was a great place to eat, particularly the fresh fish, or if you prefer there’s a bus stop at the end of the drive to take you elsewhere. It’s also quite competitively priced compared to what you can pay in some places on the island.
I was a bit worried after reading one or two less than glowing reviews, but I needn’t have been. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating and far from suffering any inconvenience they even arranged for me to check out late so that I wouldn’t have to kill time at the airport. They also do a superb breakfast which is also included in the price.
Great little hideaway if you don’t want the hustle and bustle of Hamilton or the bigger beach resorts.
Stayed in a room with a great view of the ocean as I think most of them have. Housekeeping staff were excellent and did a really good job, and the rest of the staff were similarly enthusiastic and efficient. The beach has lovely pink Bermudan sand and was almost deserted when we were there. A good place to stay if you like a bit of peace and quiet.
I’ve vacationed at this hotel for over 10 years and sadly, saw its demise as commercialization overtook it. At one time, there was no restaurant, only a coffee shop which was open for breakfast and lunch. One was able to stay in the pool all day and all night. Alas, with the opening of the Palms restaurant, that changed. One was able to "rent" a BBQ and cook on the grounds, in front of one’s residence. The staff was always smiling and pleasant and we became very friendly with Brian and Sheila. It felt like coming home to family, since we’ve vacationed there for over 10 years, sometimes returning 2-3 times during the summer. However, during our last stay, things changed. The staff seemed somewhat aloof, very busy, and really could care less whether we were having a good time or not. It may have had something to do with the deaths of the original owners, with their son taking on management, attempting to sell the hotel. He made improvements, but did he? In building more apartments and upgrading the restaurant, he took away the original charm it once had. It no longer was a loving family hotel, but just one of many interested in making a quick dollar. I have many fond memories and a lot of beautiful pictures of my stay there, but that is all that remains, as it is no longer the same hotel I once knew and loved.
