Bermuda Weather – October

You can view current weather conditions and a 5-day forecast here. You should also note that October falls within Bermuda’s hurricane season.

October is the last month of Bermuda’s high season. Most of the cruise ships visiting the island make their last calls at the island this month. Some hotels drop their rates, but many are still charging peak prices.

The temperature in October falls to an average high of approximately 79 F (September 83 F). Humidity drops significantly to 72.5 percent and the weather is pleasant.

The water temperature is around 78 F and is still fine for swimming and snorkelling. Bermudians are a little more sensitive the elements and many stop swimming in October. Underwater visibility is around 100 feet and divers will still feel comfortable wearing a shorty.

Expect around 7 hours of sunshine on an average October day, around the annual average. The sun rises at around 7.25 am and sets at approximately 6.45 pm.

October falls within Bermuda’s hurricane season, though in recent years the hurricanes affecting the island this month have caused little damage. Destructive hurricanes such as Emily and Fabian occurred in September.

Every October since 2007, the island has hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, a competition between winners of the PGA Championship, British Open, Masters, and US Open. Another major event in the month is the Argo Group Gold Cup yacht race. Other events include Gombey Saturdays in the Park.

There are no public holidays in October.
