Bermuda Day
Bermuda Day, an annual public holiday, began life as a celebration of Queen Victoria’s birthday. Nowadays, it marks the beginning of all summer activities and is the day that most Bermudians take their first dip in the sea.
Various events take place across the island but the highlight is Bermuda Day Parade. Thousands line the streets of Hamilton, many Bermudians having claimed prime spots the night before, to see the colourful display. The popular parade consists of a diverse mixture of floats, Gombey dancers, majorettes, musicians and representatives of various local organisations.
The parade begins at 1.30 pm (TBC) at the junction of Front Street and Bermudiana Road (in Hamilton) and will make its way along Front Street, before heading to Bernard Park for closing celebrations.
