An opportunity exists for an experienced Financial Manager/Controller to join a well established, Leading Construction Company.
Duties include:
• Build relationships with External financial stakeholders and Internal financial stakeholders
• Financial Analysis
• Contribution to developing and implementing strategic direction for company
• Day to day managing of accounts department staff including annual appraisal and recruitment as necessary.
• Develop and implement as required a cross training programme for all administration personnel to ensure that there is adequate cover for each accounts and administration position within company.
• Ensure that an appropriate filing system for records is accurately maintained to support the Accpac accounting package.
• Attend management meetings.
• Oversee the company’s secretarial filing system
• Supervise preparation of AP ledger, AR ledger, Payroll ledger, Inventory ledger and order entry ledger and maintenance thereof.
• Supervise maintenance of asset register.
• Calculate and account for depreciation of assets on a monthly basis and prepare necessary depreciation journal entries for capture in Accpac.
• Ensuring company operates expenditure authorization procedures (including expenses reimbursement).
• Supervision of monthly bank reconciliations and checking that all control accounts are square including sales ledger, purchase ledger, IVA account, IRPS, INSS and Modelo E.
• Supervise monthly statutory returns.
• Manage company debt collection and credit control.
• Supervise accounting of payroll and payroll annual returns.
• Preparation of annual accounts files for auditors and oversee drafting of statutory accounts.
• Management of external accountants, auditors and other professional service providers relating to the company’s financial affairs
• Manage the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements
• Assist GM with effective communication/ reporting of company’s financial performance to the company stakeholder making best use of information technology.
• Oversee the finalization of annual returns by the company’s statutory accountants.
• Audit the quality of records being kept and standard of filing system in the accounts department.
• Regularly check and randomly audit cashbooks in Excel currently being managed by treasury and payments clerk.
• Audit the company petty cashbox/ safe currently being managed by the treasury and payments clerk.
• Review bi-monthly manual cash flow plan.
• Prepare monthly management accounts
• Provide directors/senior management team with answers to ad hoc requests for financial analysis.
• Develop, implement and operate systems and procedures to ensure integrity of accounting information and safe custody of assets, including procedures to eliminate and detect fraud or theft of company assets.
• Develop and implement daily operational financial controls at head office and on various sites, including accounting, reconciliations and payments
• Co-ordinate annual preparation of detailed financial budgets and cashflows
Requirements:
• Accounting Qualification
• IFRS experience
• Mozambican accounting experience
• Audit experience
• Read, Write, Speak - Portuguese
• Experience with Accpac Small Business Edition
• Experience in construction accounting and financial management
• Keen eye for detail, but also looking for a more strategic role – involved in the broader aspects of the business including IT and legal
• Read, Write, Speak - English
• Computer literacy
• The ability to communicate with all financial stakeholders including accountants, bankers, lawyers and tax authorities
