Senior Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Accounts Payable and Investment Accounting team of our client, a prominent reinsurance company in Bermuda.

This role requires a completed professional accounting designation (CA, ACCA or CPA) and a minimum of 5 years of post qualification experience in the financial services industry. Candidates with prior experience in the reinsurance / insurance industry would be preferred. Applicants should have proven experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, sub-ledger management, fixed asset management, and financial statement preparation.

Working in a supervisory role, you will be tasked with reviewing the work of a team of Accountants and advising on business operations and expenses. You will be responsible for budgeting/forecasting and completing assigned balance sheets and income statement accounts. Other duties will include assisting with internal audit and preparing management and ad-hoc reports as required.

Insurance Industry Accountant

Our client, a recognized leader in the offshore legal services industry is in search of an Account Manager to provide professional management, accounting and administrative services to meet requirements of a varied portfolio of insurance industry clients.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the affairs of a varied portfolio of clients, including accounting, reporting and statutory reporting for clients in the insurance industry in a professional and efficient manner.
- Deal directly with clients, bankers, brokers and other associated service providers.
- Assist in the development of new areas of business and new client marketing.
- Assist in maintaining, upgrading, supervising the use of various accounting software packages.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Qualified accountant ie, Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post qualification accounting and management services experience.
- Ability to apply US and Canadian GAAP and IFRS.
- Familiarity with BSX Listing Regulations, ability to supervise Listing Applications from start to finish and ensure ongoing annual compliance.
- Proficient in preparation of Statutory Financial Returns in accordance with the Bermuda Insurance Act and familiarity with insurance accounting practices.
- Proficiency in the use of Trust Management and Accounting Software.
- The ability to deal effectively with bankers, brokers and attorneys and colleagues and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
- Highly organized team player who is a self-starter, enthusiastic, flexible, well presented and dedicated.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.

Software Developer / Reinsurance Modeling Specialist

On behalf of our Bermuda based client, we are seeking an accomplished Software/Database Developer who has direct reinsurance modeling experience with RMS, AIR and/or EQECAT products.

Required skills and experience:
- 3-5+ years of professional development experience including direct experience with RMS and/or AIR and/or EQECAT
- Strong knowledge of RMS/AIR/EQECAT database schema
- Development experience with SQL, C#, ASP.NET
- WPC, WCF, Geo coding, MatLab, GIS technology experience
- Solid academic record – Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related equivalent preferred

Group Actuary (Modeling)

On behalf of our client, a leading international reinsurer, we are seeking a suitably qualified individual to join them as Group Actuary – Modeling.

Primary duties will include:
- Responsible for the Group economic capital modeling
- Develop model specifications, process, controls, output, and reporting requirements
- Peer review, oversight, and management of best practices for the European legal entity modeling
- Capital attribution for pricing purposes
- Evaluate the deployment of capital to achieve optimal returns within risk constraints

Requirements:
- FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuary Society) or FIA (Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries) or equivalent
- A minimum of 7 years of quantitative and risk analysis experience in a similar role within the (re)insurance sector
- Experience with enterprise risk management concepts including research, development and implementation of capital at risk or other quantitative models
- IGLOO programming skills would be an asset

Head of Non-Life Reserving

We are seeking an experienced Actuary to join their Bermuda office of our client, a leading international reinsurer. This individual will report directly to the Group Chief Actuary and will be responsible for overseeing the Group Non-Life reserving function.

Applicants should hold Fellow of the Casualty Actuary Society (FCAS) or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) or equivalent qualification and have at least 10 years of experience in (re)insurance with exposure to pricing and reserving.

Duties will include but may not be limited to:
- Oversee Group quarterly reserve processes and peer review of business unit reserve studies
- Implement group reserving models and reserving analytics
- Discussion in the MD&A section of the 10Q and 10K relating to reserves
- Interact with external auditors as required
- Manage a small team of qualified Actuaries
- Make presentations to Executive Management

Principal – Insurance Policy and Regulation

Principal – Insurance Policy and Regulation – Bermuda

Our client is a Bermuda-based, policy advisory organization. They are attracting a skilled, capable individual to work as Principal in the development of their policies for the insurance industry in Bermuda.

Duties will include:
- Supervising a team of policy development professionals
- Undertaking research projects related to the insurance industry, assessing the appropriateness of various elements of insurance regulatory regimes/international standards and writing position and consultation papers proposing enhancements.
- Participating in the management decision-making of insurance regulatory regime development, providing insurance technical advice to relevant steering committees.
- Assisting the Assistant Director on all relevant technical matters pertaining to insurance regulatory frameworks (particularly accounting and solvency areas).
- Managing the performance of the Senior Analysts and formally examines and evaluates reporting staff member’s performance.

Requirements include:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent qualification in financial services, specifically insurance.
- Prior experience in regulation/government policy would be preferred.
- 7+ years of professional experience including at least 2 years at the supervisory level within the financial services industry (preferably insurance, and/or a financial regulatory body).
- A minimum of 3 years relevant policy experience.

Senior Reinsurance Analyst

We are seeking a Senior Analyst from the reinsurance industry to join the risk management and modelling department of our client’s Bermuda operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expertise in areas including catastrophe modelling, data quality and pricing for property catastrophe and specialty reinsurance business lines.

Requirements:
- University degree in a relevant field (such as Applied Sciences, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Meteorology, Environmental Science)
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role within the reinsurance industry
- Progress towards the actuarial exams or an insurance/reinsurance qualification such as CCRA
- Strong knowledge of advanced catastrophe modelling software (RMS, EQECAT, CATRADER/CLASIC/2) and MS Excel and Access
- Previous experience working in a multi-model environment would be an asset

Responsibilities will include:
- Liaise with underwriters in the evaluation of all aspects of client files (claims handling, historical performance, policy data collection, cat model exposure, policy coverage and underwriting restrictions)
- Benchmark geo-coding accuracy while considering vulnerabilities and financial and policy attributes and valuations
- create and enforce pricing procedural guidelines, work with portfolio management to ensure accuracy and integrity of pricing systems
- Determine expense estimation methodology based on predictor data
- Review and sign-off on all steps in the pricing process, review of complex program structures
- Review the work of the analyst team, mentor and coach junior analysts, conduct training workshops
