We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our insurance industry client’s finance team in Bermuda.

Applicants should be eligible for or have membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bermuda and have a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in the life insurance industry or an international public accounting firm. Preference is for candidates who also have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.

Duties will include but may not be limited to:
- Preparation of financial statements to Canadian GAAP/IFRS standards
- Preparation of management accounts and variance analysis
- Supervision and development of accounting staff
- Maintenance of internal controls and business processes
- Preparation of statutory filings for regulators
- Communications with auditors, actuaries, and bankers as required

We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst with reinsurance industry experience to join our client’s team in Bermuda. Reporting directly to the CIO of this international reinsurance organization, the successful candidate will be tasked with the design and delivery of solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity across the organization.

This position requires an in-depth knowledge of reinsurance underwriting and catastrophe modeling. Our client is seeking an individual with a strong understanding of reinsurance underwriting workflow and proven experience in managing process improvements in a reinsurance environment.

Responsibilities include:- Providing support to the business areas of Underwriting, Analysis and Actuarial
- Develop an in-depth understanding and document business requirements, work and process flows, translate them into requirements documents, functional specifications, test scenarios and plans
- Facilitate user meetings, design sessions and user testing
- Manage relationships and facilitate communications between users, development team resources and any third party
- Support project deployment activities, including product training and the writing of user documentation
- Day to day management of new work and enhancement requests in relation to the projects and ongoing support of existing applications

Requirements: - At least 5 years of experience within the reinsurance sector including underwriting and catastrophe modeling.
- Knowledge of catastrophe modeling products including RMS, AIR and EQE
- Experience leading, directing and implementing capital IT projects with budgets in excess of $1 million
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to facilitate meetings, project communications and discussions
- A university degree in a relevant field

Our client is seeking to source account executives for its expanding captive management operations in Bermuda. The successful candidate will be assigned several captive insurance companies across a variety of industries. The successful candidate will be expected to perform the accounting duties for these companies including (but not restricted to):-

• Preparing management financial statements to deadline (monthly/quarterly).
• Prepare annual GAAP audited financial statements.
• Liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities as appropriate.
• Perform and account for the accounting transactions required for each company.
• Communicate effectively with client staff.
• Prepare additional financial reports and engage in project work as requested by clients/senior management.

Requirements:

• An internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Prior experience of insurance/reinsurance and/or risk management is preferred.
• Sound accounting technical knowledge and familiarity with the requirements of UK/US/Canadian GAAP and IFRS.
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Proficiency with IT applications and specifically Microsoft Office.
