Celebrity Cruises now offering unlimited drinks packages

Celebrity Cruises has introduced unlimited beer and liquor packages on its cruise ships.

All-you-can drink Beer Package costs $34.50 per night gives passengers unlimited consumption of variety of domestic and imported beers. The selection currently includes Coors Light, Miller Lite, Beck’s, Heineken, Amstel Light, Corona, Samuel Adams, Dos Equis, Grolsch, Carlsberg, Buckler, Hoegaarden, Guinness, Boddingtons, Leffe and Stella Artois.

The Premium Liquor Package costs $76 per night and includes spirits such as Johnnie Walker Black Label, Glenfiddich, Dewar’s 12, Chivas Regal, Glenlivet, Tangle Ridge, Midleton Very Rare, Knob Creek, Remy Martin VSOP, Hennessy, Bombay Sapphire, Belvedere Vodka, Grey Goose, Pyrat Rum, Bacardi 8, and Grand Mariner.

The Classic Liquor Package costs $51.50 per night and includes Johnnie Walker Red Label, Dewar’s White Label, Cutty Sark, Canadian Club, Jameson, Jim Beam, Jack Daniel’s, Hennessy VS, Beefeater, Absolut Vodka, Captain Morgan, and Baileys.

Passengers must be 21 years old to purchase drinks packages.

The Celebrity ship visiting Bermuda in 2010 is the Celebrity Summit.


Destination Dockyard returns

Destination Dockyard returns to the West End of Bermuda tomorrow evening.

The annual summer series of Monday night street festivals at the Royal Naval Dockyard (King’s Wharf/Heritage Wharf) will run until August 10.

Evenings include a full programme of entertainment and things to do:

• Happy Hour 6 pm to 8 pm – ‘Taste of Bermuda’ – free samples of Dockyard Beer at the Frog and Onion Pub and Bermuda Craft Market
• The Main Event 8 pm to 10.30 pm – Live entertainment, glassblowing at Dockyard Glassworks, shopping at the Clocktower Mall (opening hours extended to 9 pm), children’s activities, Gombey dancers, and more
• After Hours– live music at the Frog and Onion (9 pm to midnight), Reggae Beach Party at Snorkel Park (10 pm to 2 am), and salsa dancing at the Bone Fish Bar & Grill (8.45 pm to midnight)

Destination Dockyard is hosted by the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Royal Caribbean International (RCI) and the West End Development Corporation (WEDCO).


Harbour Nights begin tomorrow

The first of this year’s series of Harbour Nights will be take place tomorrow on Front Street in Hamilton.

It will run from 7 pm until 10 pm and feature live entertainment, Gombey dancers, stalls offering local arts and crafts for sale, children’s activities, food stands, and more.

Ferries depart from Royal Naval Dockyard (Kings Wharf/Heritage Wharf) at 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm, returning at 10 pm and 11 pm.

Harbour Nights run every Wednesday evening until August 26th 2009. They are organised by the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Pickled Onion, Hog Penny, Flanagan’s, Café Cairo, Bermuda Bistro, Norwegian Cruise Line, the Department of Tourism, and the Department of Community & Cultural Affairs.


Former nightclub reopens as live music venue

The former Splash nightclub on Bermudiana Road in Hamilton has reopened as a jazz and live music venue.

LV’s Piano & Jazz Lounge aims to attract a mature and sophisticated clientele by offering live music, and enforcing a smart dress code and over-25’s entrance policy.

The lounge is open from Monday to Thursday (noon to 1 am), Friday (noon to 3 am), and Saturday (8 pm to 1 am).

It is owned and operated by the Little Venice Group. Their portfolio also includes the Harbourfront, Little Venice, La Trattoria, and Fourways Inn, L’Oriental, and Blu Bar and Grill.


MR Onions closing

Hamilton restaurant and bar MR Onions will close on March 31. Owner Phil Talbot has decided not to renew the lease after running the business for the last 12 years. A closing party will be held on Saturday. Mr Talbot cites the future redevelopment of the building and a loss of trade due to the smoking ban as the main reasons for the closure. The bar has no veranda which has led to smokers moving on to other watering holes.


Pickled Onion closing for refurbishment

The Pickled Onion bar and restaurant will close on January 1 for refurbishment. It is expected to reopen sometime in March.


Smoking Ban Now in Effect

A ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces including hotels, bars and restaurants came into effect in Bermuda today. Smokers can still light up on terraces and patios.


Swizzle Inn opens in Warwick Parish

One of Bermuda’s most popular pubs has opened a sister property in Warwick Parish.

The Swizzle Inn South Shore is situated on South Shore Road in the old Paw Paws building, roughly halfway between Elbow Beach and Astwood Cove.

It offers much of the same menu as its elder sibling and is open from 11 am to 1 am daily.


Little Venice adds wine bar

The Little Venice Group has extended their flagship restaurant, the Little Venice, with the addition of a new wine bar.

The new bar is situated next to the existing property on Bermudiana Road in Hamilton. It boasts a selection of more than 800 bottles, with many available by the glass.
