National Trust gets new director

The Bermuda National Trust has a new leader. Bermudian Jennifer Gray will take over the role of Executive Director in January next year. She replaces Derrick Morris who resigned in October after just 9 months in charge.

Celebrate Canada Day

The Association of Canadians in Bermuda will be holding their annual Canada Day celebrations at Chaplin Bay beach tomorrow (June 30). The event runs from 12 to 5 pm and includes an official welcome and singing of the national anthem at 1.30 pm and a children’s sandcastle competition at 3.30 pm. Other activities planned include volleyball, tug-of-war and limbo competitions. All are welcome.

Palm Sunday Walk

The Bermuda National Trust’s annual Palm Sunday Walk will start at 2 pm on Sunday April 1. The 2 mile walk will start at Spice Valley Middle School and follow a route through Warwick Parish. Call 236 6483 for further information.

National Trust gets new leader

The Bermuda National Trust has appointed a new executive director. Derek Morris, currently CEO of Bermuda Incentives and Conventions, will take over from Steve Conway on February 1 2007.

Johnny Barnes Joins Protest

Johnny Barnes, Bermuda’s most famous resident, has put his weight behind the petition to save the Bermuda Botanical Gardens from redevelopment. Barnes joined other supporters of the Save the Gardens Campaign and wore green last Friday to help promote their cause.

BBSR Changes Name

The Bermuda Biological Station for Research has changed its name to the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS). The change has been made to reflect the scale and scope of the work currently undertaken by the not-for-profit organisation.
