My wife and I loved the Sonesta and spent many vacations there. In recent years my daughter also accompanied us and it became an annual thing, one we looked forward to each summer. It was a classy place to go with its wonderful and uncrowded beaches and EXCELLENT staff. We came to know many of the staff and they were wonderful! After being hit by the big hurricane, we returned just two more times, the first was when the rebuilding was nearing completion and we understood why things weren't up to snuff. The following summer when reconstruction was completed, we were very disappointed. The water park was an aberration for a resort! It added NOTHING to the appeal. Also, there was no longer a swimming pool but one which I called a wading pool because it was so shallow throughout. It's so sad that the Wyndham people bought such an elegant property and absolutely ruined our beautiful paradise in Bermuda!

My wife and I honeymooned at the Carlton Beach in 1962. It was a wonderful experience that we never forgot. Went back in 1992, when it was the Sonesta, and that was another memorable time in our lives. It was a shock to hear that the place has been torn down. Let's hope the new developers will create a magical hotel that will return that priceless piece of Bermuda to it's former glory. I'll be looking forward to 2011. As Arnold has stated so forcefully," We'll be back.

in 1970 my wife and i stayed at the carlton beach and again when it baecame the sonesta. since then we have stayed at sonesta over 100 times. it was our second home and that to our three children as well. friends made over the years are still friends. the fabric of our lives and those of our children have been interwoven with sonesta. throughout our home are framed Birsey limited edition lithographs given us by the hotel. our memories of sonesta and the staff are very special to us and i will cherish my time there always.

My husband were married on the Cross Bay Beach in July of 2002 and thankfully brought our 2 children here to visit in 2005. How sad that the Sonesta (Wyndham) is closed. We always pictured our vacations to Bermuda there.

I am sitting here in disbelievement to find out Sonesta is going to be demolished. My father, Jim Seiferheld, had been going to Sonesta for decades before he started to bring my mother and I there. I am 25 years old now, and I have probably visited Bermuda 30-40 times, many of those times staying in Suite 350, which no longer existed after the hurricane. My father passd away in 2003 and his ashes were actually spread on the Bay Beach at Sonesta in his memory by my brother and I, because Bermuda and Sonesta were where he always wanted to be. In another year or so, I was planning to bring my girlfriend to Wyndham(Sonesta) to propose to her, so that my father could be there to see it. Bermuda and Sonesta will always have a special place in my heart. From all the employees by name, Elliot (the guy out front hailing cabs), Glenn (bellman), Tori Sheppard (Old manager), Dennis Tucker (Old GM of Sonesta), waiters - Tony Bucci, Jose, Augusto, Molly from the ice cream shop, and of course, Cal, the tennis pro, the man I spent most of my time with, because he had some of the pro tennis players from Bermuda play me when I was 11 years old. I would love dearly if some one out there knew how I could reach any of those people. This is truely a sad day to hear that Wyndham gave up on a absolutely beautiful, fantastic place to visit, and gave up on the most friendly, loving employees any vacationer could come in contact with.

I was just logging on to plan a trip to the wyndham this summer. I am shocked that it is closed. We vacationed at the Sonesta a few times and were looking forward to returning to the Wyndham. I am sad:(

My sister recently visited Bermuda and said the hotel looked vacant. I just went on-line and discovered Sonesta is closed. Honeymooned at the Sonesta 30 years ago, June 1977. It was very special. Still have the movies and pictures. I chose this hotel because it was the only one right on the water. It was a lucky decision. Jan and I are still happily married and have six children. Perhaps it was the romantic honeymoon at the Sonesta that helped us off to a good start! Everything must change and time surely does fly, but I would like to have taken a second honeymoon here.

I just clicked onto the website for The Wyndham and found out it has closed! I am so sad and shocked, because a group of friends and my family had vacationed there in July 2006, and had NO idea it was going to close. My husband and I honeymooned there in May 1983 when it was The Sonesta and we were looking forward to coming down to celebrate our 25th anniversary. How sad! We love Bermuda and have been there four times, my first time with my family when I was 16, and just this last time with my own daughter who was 17. I guess we'll have to settle for another resort, but at least we have our pictures and fond memories!

How sad the news I learned this week that the Wyndham is closing! My husband I were married there 2 years ago this month! 40 people flew down from Boston for our destination wedding! We were there last June for our 1st Anniversery, and had the pleasure of coming home to find out we were pregnant with our first child! This is our Bermuda Baby, and we were anxious to bring her to the Wyndham and introduce her to the wonderful children's waterpark in another year! I hand picked this resort for my wedding (after viewing several properties in Bermuda) because it had a lot to offer a family, and all ages, in case my wedding guests wanted to bring children. I guess our Bermuda Baby will have to be introduced to a new property! BOO HOO!!!!!!!!! WHO MADE THIS DECISION???!!! This was the best property on the island!
