Harmony Club

The Harmony Club has closed. Why not take a look at other hotels nearby. Options include Elbow Beach, Newstead Belmont Hills, Coco Reef, Dawkins Manor, Salt Kettle, and Greenbank.

The hotel was purchased by the Bermuda Government in May 2008 to provide accommodation for overseas police recruits. We have kept this listing online as many of our readers are still searching for information about the hotel.

The adults-only Harmony Club was previously an all-inclusive hotel but since the beginning of 2005 offers the more traditional room and breakfast option. Located close to Hamilton, the Harmony Club’s traditional Bermudian cottage-style architecture projects the intimacy of a private country hideaway in a garden setting.

The Harmony Club has a total of 68 rooms located in five separate blocks. They are all furnished in classic Queen Anne style. All rooms have private bathroom, air conditioning, hairdryers, safes, alarm clock radios, satellite TV, tea/coffee facilities, bathrobes, and deluxe toiletries.

The hotel has no beach but guests are free to use the private beach and facilities at the Elbow Beach hotel. It’s a 15 minute walk but only 5 minutes on a scooter. They can be rented from either Eve’s Cycles or Oleander Cycles which both have offices nearby.

Resort amenities include 2 tennis courts, restaurants, a heated outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, concierge and laundry service.

  1. Anyone have any memories of Carl Schwedler? He managed Harmony Hall in the 1960s.

    • I stayed at Harmony Hall in 1964 on Spring Break…just heard it was gone. So sorry to hear this. Such a lovely, non-touristy place…much nicer than ugly high rise hotels. The staff were wonderful, as was the food. The gardens and pool were delightful! I’m from England originally and felt so at home in Bermuda (the weather notwithstanding). So it goes…progress…not always for the best. Guess it always comes down to money. Harmony Hall should have been preserved as it was quite unique. I’m glad, at least, to have some great pics and many fond memories.

  3. Spent our magical honeymoon there, June, 2000. Coming up on our 20’th; heartbroken Harmony Club has closed! Don’t remember Ida-Mae but I do remember Graham(concierge) and the awesome bartender that gave us ( “bucket ‘o beers”) & would not let me leave the islands without my pink Sand! I will get back there soon… any recommendations for the next best place to stay?

  4. Dear Sir/M’aam,

We too had our Honeymoon at the Harmony Club, It was vibrant, it was quality and it was the only All Inclusive I have ever stayed. The reason we chose the Club was because it was all in, is there any other all inclusive resort on the island left?

    Please let me know

  5. We stayed at Harmony Hall for our honeymoon in 1978. What a wonderful week we had there. The food was fantastic and twice we opted to try a different hotel for dinner and it wasn’t even close to being as good. Pictures of us in the Moongate are one of my favorite and the gardens were impeccable. We have a cup and saucer from there which I have displayed to this day on my dining room shelf. I was thinking how wonderful it would be to come back next year for our 40th anniversary and am sorry to hear it is no longer open.

  6. My parents took my sister and I on a summer vacation to Harmony Hall in the early 1960’s. We spent hours in the pool and were eventually dragged down to Elbow Beach were we found incredible mushroom shaped coral reefs close to shore that were perfect for snorkeling. I met a young guy, nicknamed Sky, also staying there. We went snorkeling, swimming, to the lounge one night to listen to the band, and he even tried to teach me
Snooker. Quite a memorable trip for a teenager.

We honeymooned at Cambidge Beaches in 1965, vacationed at the Reefs on our 10th anniversary, took 3 cruises to Bermuda. All were great, but Harmony Club stands out above all. What a wonderful place and great memories

  8. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there in June of 1980, went back in 1990. Loved the place. Sorry to see it not serving customers. Like some others, we “lifted” a set of two tea cups with the Harmony Hall/Belmont and Bermudiana logo’s on them. We spent a night dining at each of the three, and are sad to see it not hosting guests any longer.

    • Harmony club was the place to stay. How I used to love to do cannon balls into their pool. Beautiful grounds, all inclusive, non-stop eating 24/7. Just like Little Italy back home. Only drawbacks were low water pressure which meant I had to purchase my own plunger and I could not leave my saddlebags on my moped. They came home with me on my waist.

    • Ida Mae’s drink recipes were the best. Love the ‘yellow bird’ and ‘dark & stormy’. Bobby would fill up a five gallon bucket for us when the bar closed. I think Cheeks left to drive a taxi. Bermudiana/Belmont/Harmony Hall was a great triple play.

Spent a wonderful week there, and have fond memories of Harmony Hall, as it was then, walking down to the beach, and the little food building nearby. Went back to Bermuda last month for the first time in 48 years, and was so sorry to learn that Harmony Hall (Club) is no longer. We drove by where it used to be and the tour bus driver pointed it out to us on our bus. There were several others besides me, with my husband, who remembered Harmony Hall.

The moongates were great. We’ve got many pictures between them at Harmony Hall and elsewhere on the island. Our prize souvenir from Harmony Hall was a sugar bowl from the dinning area I lifted at 2 am in the morning after a wild night out. It had the words "Bermudiana"- and "Belmont" on the bowl. The three hotels were connected somehow and it’s priceless to us. We have a rum swizzle bottle full of pink sand from Elbow Beach. We were hoping to get back for our 30th but we found out they were closed. We were totally bummed out!! Harmony Hall will never be forgotten!!!

Holy canoli Saint Mary, I had to make an emergency visit to the gift shop for larger swim trunks but it was all worth it. Great moped rental company that came to the hotel, they kept on fixing my rear flat tires very quickly.

Late night swimming in the pool, vegetarian lasagna, the bartender, lobby bands, everything and every corner a memory. Fortunately, we have many years of memories.

Accommodation food and service was great and we had a great time with Andrew & Sally, a couple honeymooning there back in 1996. It’s our 40th next year which was going to be the next option. We got "remarried" under a moongate on our honeymoon and the memories of our time there are so close to our hearts. We came home more in love (didn’t think it was possible) then when we left home. Shane, Cheeks and Ida Mae not only welcomed us to the resort, but welcomed us as a part of the family. Now that I have let the "cat out of the bag" to my husband, I am looking for another place for us to stay in Bermuda.
