Situated on one of Bermuda’s finest south shore beaches, Blue Water Divers’ facility at the Elbow Beach hotel offers a variety of water-based activities and rentals.
On the diving front they offer guided shore dives. Within minutes you can visit towering reef formations and the wreck of the Pollockshields, a steamer that wrecked just off the shore here in 1915. For children they offer PADI’s Bubblemaker course, a pool-only scuba diving experience. Pool sessions for rusty certified divers needing their skills refreshing are also available.
Non-divers can visit the Pollockshields by taking a guided kayak/snorkel tour. Participants paddle out to the reef, tie up, and then don snorkel gear to explore the wreck.
A variety of equipment rentals are also available. Single and double kayaks, paddle boards, snorkelling gear, rafts, and DVPs (Diver Propulsion Vehicles) can all be hired here.
Elbow Beach is only ten minutes from Hamilton and twenty minutes from the Royal Naval Dockyard. It’s on bus route 7. The concession is on the beach itself and is accessible from the hotel or the public section of the beach. After your chosen activity you can grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink from Mickey’s.
Blue Water Divers also have another facility at Somerset Bridge. It offers boat dives to even more of Bermuda’s exciting reefs and shipwrecks, additional PADI courses, and whale watching trips.
