Department of Parks

The Department of Parks is the office of the Government of Bermuda responsible for maintenance and development of the island’s parks and beaches, the Railway Trail, sports fields, and other public lands.

It is also the body responsible for issuing permits for weddings and functions on Bermuda’s beaches and other public areas.

For a small fee, weddings can be held at Astwood Park and on the beaches at West Whale Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Chaplin Bay, Stonehole Bay, Jobson’s Cove, Warwick Long Bay, Elbow Beach, and John Smith’s Bay. Those needing more information about booking a beach wedding should telephone 441-236-5902.

Weddings can also be held at Fort St Catherine (telephone 441-297-1920) and the Botanical Gardens (telephone 441-239-2351).

The Department of Parks is also responsible for the Bermuda Lifeguard Service. Trained lifeguards are on duty in the summer months at Horseshoe Bay, John Smith’s Bay, Clearwater Beach, and Turtle Bay.

The department’s office are situated in the Botanical Gardens in Paget Parish.
