H2O Sports operates from both the dock at Mangrove Bay and the beach at Cambridge Beaches. They offer organised jet ski tours, and rent kayaks, motorboats, sailboats, snorkelling equipment, and fishing gear.
Their Jet Ski Safari adventure lasts 75 minutes and takes in many of the most scenic sights at the western end of Bermuda. Tours typically include a ride under the historic Somerset Bridge, the beautiful Ely’s Harbour, and feeding the fish that gather at the wreck of the HMS Vixen. On your journey you may be lucky enough to see the green sea turtles grazing off the western shore.
The company uses high performance Yamaha Waverunners capable of speeds of up to 55 miles per hour. Groups are limited to 5 jet skis per guide, ensuring a more personalised experience. The driver must be at least 16 years old but passengers can be any age.
H2O also rents motor boats. They can accommodate up to 6 passengers, have a stable catamaran hull, and can travel at speeds of up to 30 mile per hour. They also feature a retractable Bimini top that offers protection from the sun. Customers are provided with instruction and recommendations on the best places to visit and things to do depending on the conditions. Options could include visiting a deserted island for a picnic, cruising around Ely’s Harbour, fishing, and snorkelling the wreck of the Vixen.
Prices for hiring a motor boat are very reasonable, especially if you’re in a group and split the cost. The rate is $80 for the first hour and $30 for each subsequent hour. A 4-hour trip would cost around $210 ($170 for the rental and $40 for the fuel). For a party of 6 this would work out at $35 each, an extremely cheap half-day excursion given Bermuda’s relatively high costs. If you take a picnic there are several supermarkets in Sandys Parish where you could buy provisions (the Somerset MarketPlace, and the Maxi Mart). A cooler with ice is included in the rental.
Sailing boats can also be rented here. Options include a 13 foot Sunfish, a 14 foot Hobie Cat, and a 17 foot Day Sailer. Rentals include a brief sailing lesson. More comprehensive private sailing lessons are also offered.
