This swimwear and water sports shop in Hamilton is one of the stalwarts of the island’s retail scene. Established in 1988 by Stuart Joblin and Douglas Patterson, it started out as a business on Front Street selling customised Bermuda shorts.
Over the years the product range has increased and now includes swimwear, sandals and footwear, rain jackets, sunglasses, skateboards, paddle boards, surf boards, sunglasses, accessories, and more. Brands stocked include O’Neill, Columbia, Patagonia, Billabong, Quiksilver, Roxy, and Hurley.
In 2012 the store moved to a new location on Church Street. Opening hours are 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday.
Makin’ Waves also has a branch at Royal Naval Dockyard catering to cruise ship passengers. Their store in St George closed in 2009.
