One of the managers once described his store to us as the ‘Harrods of Bermuda’. It’s without doubt, the best place to come in Bermuda if you’re looking for speciality and quality food. Think upmarket food hall rather than supermarket and you’ll be on the right track.
Miles Market stocks the freshest fruit and vegetables on the island, a wide range of quality meat, fresh fish straight off the boat, gourmet cheeses from around the world, and organically raised, free-range poultry and game birds.
They have a wine selection second to none, and if they don’t stock what you are searching for they’ll gladly order it for you. If you’re looking for a bottle of Krug or Bollinger this is the place to come. Miles Market also sells Cuban cigars.
The Miles-To-Go deli offers picnic lunches, cooked food items, wraps and crusty bread sandwiches, pastries, sushi, and prepared entrees ready for cooking.
All this quality and choice comes at a price though. The store is undoubtedly the most expensive place to buy groceries on the island. It’s easy to come here, pick up a few items, and get little change from $100.
Miles Market is situated at the Waterfront, a mixed-use development on the western side of Hamilton. It is home to the offices of many of Bermuda’s reinsurance and investment companies. Harry’s, an upmarket steakhouse, is opposite the store.
Miles is convenient for visitors staying at the neighbouring Hamilton Princess. It’s also the closest store for guests of the Oxford House, Royal Palms, Edgehill Manor, Rosedon, and Rosemont. Hamilton Ferry Terminal is also nearby.
Store hours are 7.30 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 pm on Sunday. In 2014 Bermuda’s alcohol laws changed. Alcohol can now be purchased on a Sunday from grocery stores.
