Visitors from the UK craving a taste of home will be pleased to learn that the shelves of the Supermart are stocked with familiar Waitrose products.
The Supermart’s Butcher’s Block is known for its custom cuts of meat, large selection of local and imported seafood, and a wide range of gourmet cheeses from around the world. If you’re having a party they are able to provide custom-made cheese trays and meat platters.
Their in-store bakery offers a variety of breads, including gourmet breads and baked Bermudian specialities such as banana bread. Fresh fruit and vegetables, both imported and local, are available daily.
The Supermart also stocks a large selection of wines from around the world, as well as beers and spirits. Bermuda’s licensing laws were relaxed in 2014. Alcohol can now be purchased from supermarkets on the Sabbath.
The store’s deli boasts the largest salad bar in Bermuda and is crowded at lunchtimes with office workers. They also carry a good selection of foreign newspapers and magazines.
The Supermart is open every day of the week. Store hours are 7 am to 10 pm Monday to Saturday, and 1 pm to 6 pm on Sunday. HSBC Bermuda has an ATM here if you need some cash.
The store is located at the eastern end of Front Street in Hamilton, just past the Cabinet Building. It’s a 10 minute walk from the ferry terminal or bus station. There’s free parking for scooters outside the store.
Visitors staying on the eastern side of the island can shop at the Somers Supermart in St George. It’s smaller but carries similar products.
