All taxis in Bermuda have meters with rates set by the government. Standard fares are:
- 1 – 4 persons, $5.15 initial charge, $2.75 per mile
- 5 – 7 persons, $6.45 initial charge, $3.50 per mile
Rates are 25 percent higher on between midnight and 6 am and on Sundays and public holidays (50% for 5 – 7 persons).
A $1 surcharge is also added for each large item of baggage. A 15% tip is appropriate.

At peak times (e.g. Friday and Saturday evenings) and for critical trips (e.g. a trip to the airport) we’d strongly recommend booking a taxi in advance. A list of dispatching companies can be found here. If you’re staying in a hotel or guest house they’ll probably have a preferred, reliable driver they can call on your behalf.
