Visitors to Royal Naval Dockyard can learn more about the history and heritage of the facility by watching one of the free historical re-enactments held here in the summer. Actors in period costume give a short performance depicting life at the Dockyard at the start of the 19th century.
The show is held at the Victualling Yard (behind the Frog & Onion) on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings, beginning on May 5 and running until October 2 2015. It starts at 9.30 am and lasts around 20 minutes.
Visitors are given the opportunity to have photos taken with the actors. They can then go on to enhance their knowledge by taking a free guided walking tour of the Dockyard. The tour leaves the Victualling Yard at 9.50 am and finishes in front of the Clocktower Mall at around 10.30 am.
Both the re-enactment and walking tour are completely free.
