The 2019 Bermuda Triangle Challenge (formerly Bermuda Marathon Weekend) is a three-day running event open to both Bermuda residents and visitors. It features the Butterfield Front Street Mile, BF&M 10K Run and 10K Walk, Half-Marathon and the Bermuda Marathon.
The schedule this year is as follows:
- Friday, January 17, 2020, 7 pm – Front Street, Hamilton – Butterfield Front Street Mile.
- Saturday, January 18, 2020, 9 am – National Sports Centre, Devonshire – Bermuda 10K Run & 10K Walk.
- Sunday, January 19, 2020, 7.15 am – Royal Naval Dockyard to Front Street, Hamilton – Bermuda Marathon
- Sunday, January 19, 2020, 9 am – Front Street, Hamilton – Bermuda Half-Marathon.
Run the Front Street Mile, Bermuda 10K, and the Bermuda Marathon or Half Marathon to complete the Bermuda Triangle Challenge.
The Front Street Mile starts at The Flagpole on Front Street in Hamilton. Runners race up Front Street to Queen Street and then turn back. On reaching King Street they head back again to The Flagpole.
The Bermuda 10K events start at the National Sports Centre in Devonshire. From here the route goes south along Montpelier Road, passing the Arboretum. Runners then head east along Middle Road all the way to Flatts. On reaching Flatts they then follow the North Shore Road west, then taking Palmetto Road and Frog Lane to return to the National Sports Centre.
The Bermuda Marathon starts at Royal Naval Dockyard and finishes at the Flagpole on Front Street in Hamilton.
The Bermuda Half-Marathon starts and finishes on Front Street, Hamilton.
The first Bermuda Marathon was held in 1975 and attracted just seven runners. More than four decades later the race is now part of a multi-day running festival with over 1,000 entrants.
